f you are considering Menorca villas as an option for your holidays, here are a few FAQs that you may find useful.
What is there to see and do on Menorca?
This is a fantastically varied Mediterranean island with its own quiet charm and Balearic culture. It has a range of attractions from some of its unique towns such as Mahon (the capital) and Ciutadella (the ancient capital), through to some sophisticated resorts such as Calan Porter and Calan Bosch.
Unlike some other Mediterranean islands, Menorca also offers quieter and more family-oriented resorts for those that prefer a little more tranquillity and quiet sophistication. Son Bou is one such example. The resorts inevitably have great access to beach and sea activities with their associated sports.
Are Menorca villas expensive to rent?
That depends very much on what you consider to be expensive! What can be said is that this island was one of those that led the way in the development of villa and apartment holidays in the Balearics. There is a wide range available, typically based around the major resorts. Some are available at a very reasonable price for those that are budget conscious, but if you are prepared to spend to achieve a degree of luxury during your annual holidays, then there will be villas available to meet your requirements.
Is a hire car always necessary?
Strictly speaking, no. If you are careful with your selection of location, then you may be able to get by just walking in and around the locality of the villa itself (excluding your initial airport transfer of course). On Menorca, villas tend to be located on either the outskirts of resorts or in rural locations. What you find to be 'walkable' may depend upon your own personal inclinations and your fitness levels. In some cases, villa rentals will be clearly highlighted as 'car advisable' or 'car essential'.
Are Menorca villas 'serviced'?
That depends upon the villa you are renting and the rental company you are using. Many villas come with a change of linen and towels included in the price. Some may also have a basic cleaning and maintenance service included or available as an optional extra. It may be possible to rent some villas on a 'fully serviced' basis, which may include all cooking and cleaning. If you are interested in this option, your holiday provider will normally be only too pleased to provide further information.
Are Menorca villas rented on a 'fully inclusive' basis?
Once again, that depends upon the holiday you have selected. Some villas have, built into their rental charge, the costs of a full cleaning of the property following your checkout. Some owners may show a cleaning charge separately and this may be deductible from your deposit unless you leave the property in the pristine condition you find it in to begin with. This is shown separately as a way of allowing you to reduce the cost a little, if you choose to do your own cleaning prior to departure.
